Eczema Ointment – Why You Should Use It
Eczema ointments and creams are two different treatments for eczema which are normally and mistakenly thought to be a singular product which has different names. As alike as they are in some aspects, they are even more different than they are the same. One of them is even better than the other and when considering about the pluses and minuses of each. So which one of them is the better one, truly – an eczema ointment or an eczema cream?
Advantages Of An Eczema Ointment:
1. Eczema ointments are convenient to carry around because they come in smaller tubes than most eczema creams. This is a great choice for people who lead busy lifestyles who do not prefer the bulky and chunky.
2. People with busy lifestyles and work that require them to move around must use an eczema ointment. Eczema ointments skin products which are oil based. Therefore, even if you used an ointment on a body area which constantly rubs against other areas of your body or against objects in the environment, it won’t come off easily.
3. People that are constantly exposed to moisture or have lifestyles that make them sweat a lot should only use eczema ointments. The oil based formulation of an eczema ointment practically makes it waterproof so even if you sweat or get wet a lot, the ointment will stay on your skin for good.
4. Because eczema ointment stays on the skin for hours after application, you don’t need to reapply it on your eczema rash just to make sure that your skin gets an adequate dose of eczema medication.
Advantages Of Eczema Creams:
1. Typically, eczema creams come in bigger tubes and containers than eczema ointments. Because they come in bigger packages, you can cover larger and more body areas with rashes.
2. Eczema creams are cheaper than eczema ointments because of their simple water based formulation.
3. On the weekend or during days off when your schedule changes from busy to relaxed, you can utilize eczema creams instead of an eczema ointment. This will save you money.
4. When applied on the skin, eczema creams aren’t obvious and will blend with your skin’s color and appearance as soon as they dry up. An eczema cream is therefore the ideal choice for people who are in constant interaction with others.
Disadvantages Of Eczema Ointment:
1. A tube of eczema ointment costs more than a small bottle of eczema cream. It is not a good choice for the budget-conscious individual.
2. An eczema ointment can only cover a limited area of your body rashes because of its small packaging and pricy cost.
Disadvantages Of Eczema Creams:
1. Eczema creams may be less expensive but they are a less than practical choice if you only end up reapplying more than you should. Eventually, it will turn out that it would have been money spent on an eczema ointment which doesn’t need to be reapplied as much because of its stay-on power.
2. Eczema creams aren’t the best to be used on the face and anywhere on the body during busy work days since they wear off easily.
3. Eczema creams are available in bulkier packages and may be more difficult to carry around with you, especially for people who don’t carry bags with them.
The Verdict: Eczema Ointment Is More Practical Than Eczema Cream:
When considering the advantages and disadvantages of both eczema ointment and eczema cream, it is obvious that the eczema ointment is better. Although it is more expensive than eczema creams, in the long run, it is a more practical choice since it is more resistant to external forces, doesn’t need constant reapplication, and has better chances to be absorbed by the skin compared to eczema creams.
